About the Group and What It Can Do For YOU

The group currently has a membership of over 150 ME sufferers. We are here to offer a point of local contact to all who have to live with this dreadful condition. We attempt to help members in a number of ways:

By a local newsletter sent to members at approximately monthly intervals.

By holding local group meetings where fellow sufferers can exchange ideas and gain mutual support.

By telephone, email and pen pal contact between members - especially valuable for the less mobile and at times when one feels particularly unwell or depressed. We also try to arrange home visits to the less mobile.

Contact details are only made available to group members and only with the express permission of the person concerned.

By maintaining a local group library of books, articles and sound and video tapes on ME for FREE loan to members.

By holding occasional fund-raising events to support local members and to aid much-needed research into the mysteries of this horrible condition.

To cover local running costs the Group Committee have found it necessary to make an annual charge of £5.00 per member (from May 1st 2007). However this fee may be waived or reduced in cases of financial hardship. Any surplus which accrues will be forwarded to ME research.

Our local group is independent of the two national support organisations ME Association and Action for ME. Each provides, in addition to a quarterly newsletter, ready advice on welfare and other matters. They also co-ordinate research efforts and publicise the problems of the ME sufferer to medical and other bodies.

If you would like to join the local Group and receive regular newsletters please return the application form as soon as possible. For Group administration purposes, details supplied of names, addresses, telephone numbers, etc. are kept on computer at the above address but NO personal details are divulged to anyone without your express permission. You may view your records on request at reasonable times.

Click here for the application forms and save them to a suitable location on your computer.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you need further information.
